I have seen heaven and it was in the form of a lychee, rosy, creamy drink.

Quite frankly, thats enough to describe this drink, but It deserves more clarification.

Ever felt like drinking a piña colada that wasn’t alcoholic or pineapple-tasting? I mean generally speaking I feel like lychee is so much more underrated in the west than pineapple. I’m not sure why that is because its the superior fruit.

It’s got the sweet fruitiness without the tart sourness of the pineapple and the acidic aftertaste it leaves. Instead, lychee leaves a fresh, minty aftertaste to a sweet, fruity flavor that substitutes and, in my opinion, far exceeds pineapples in any fruit olympics.

I had this drink at ‘Heavenly Desserts’ in London, UK. It was 4.95 as you can see in the menu snippet. Heavenly Desserts is available in many locations around the UK, so you can go ahead and try it too!

The ingredients for this drink if you’d like to make it at home are:

  1. Rose Water
  2. Lychee Juice
  3. Strawberry
  4. Milk
  5. Ice is optional, but mine didn’t have any.
  6. Sparkling Water is also optional, but it adds some fun pizzazz to the mix.

This drink was refreshing, sweet, fruity, fresh and delightful. It’s the perfect summer drink on a hot summer day. Now, yes, we have just started Fall, but who’s to stop you from feeling like summer again? Thats right, no one.

My Iced Rose and Lychee Martini smelled like fruity roses. It was light closer to water in density, with a bit of creamy foam on top that just forms when you mix the ingredients together. The creaminess comes from the milk, but I bet if you add cream instead it’ll be heavier and creamier. If that’s what you want, go nuts.

This is the kind of drinks where measurements don’t really matter, as long as you add the ingredients in amounts relative to what you want the drink to taste like. As long as you blend the ingredients together then strain the mix, it’ll turn out great.

Personally, I’m a fan of the lychee and strawberry combo, so when I do make this at home I add equal measures of lychee juice and strawberry and less of the rose water.

I had this drink with rich chocolate crepes and a heavy (not great) tiramisu. I wouldn’t pair it (or anything else) with a heavy tiramisu, but this is up to you. Either way, if you do pair it with a heavy dessert like I did (on accident), it’ll work just fine. The Lychee drink cuts the rich, heaviness of the chocolate and adds a fruity, flowery sweet lightness to the meal. I really did not like this tiramisu, hope thats clear enough.

If only you could see the satisfaction on my face as I drank my rosy lychee drink for the first time, you would want to try it too. If you do, let me know what you think! Happy experimenting.
