Tell us about your favorite pair of shoes, and where they’ve taken you.

Have you had the most comfortable day of your life yet? The day that melts away your troubles. The day that pronounces every hour as an improvement to its predecessor.

Have you lived the day that minimises all preceding days of self-care? The day that marks the calendar as the best holiday you’ve ever had from from your stress-inducing 20s era? The day that makes any other experience of your 20s era look like a chump.

That day was a series of three days on a beach on the Black Sea where my sandals accompanied me through sand, ocean, pool-side pavement and restaurant ceramic.

The resort I stayed at was a secluded location in the North West end of Turkey, just adjacent to Bulgaria. My sandals and I saw pure sand – the type that has never seen the pollution of human interaction. We saw a sea peaceful, yet roaring in flagrant dispute of occasional temperamental winds.

The beach would win any competitions with infamous counterparts like Myrtle Beach, Long Beach, Palm Beach and more before the competition even started.

There was a beach club on the beach that my sandals never saw, a buffet restaurant with diverse, very well cooked food items and drinks, and a pool that also sat right on the beachside, soaking in the pure, outdoor breezes of open sea.

The beach was a comfort I had never seen the likes of in my life, and the kind of a safety and connection I had with the earth beneath my feet owed in no small measure to my nondescript generic white sandals.

My sandals kept me safe from small wildlife, cold floors and the heat of the sun. My sandals carried me through the most peaceful days of my life, and I’ll count myself lucky if I ever have this experience again.

    1. Thanks! I think I definitely could’ve explained more about the resort and the beach, but it was a quick post. Would love to know if you’d be interested in more in depth posts or if quick immersive reads are more your thing? 😊
